Volunteer
What to Expect as a Volunteer
Volunteering at GodSpeed Equine means supporting equine-assisted programs for at-risk youth in a Christ-centered environment. Volunteers play an important role in helping create a safe, encouraging space where riders can build confidence, responsibility, and faith through their connection with horses.
Time Commitment
📅 One evening per week · *5:00–7:00 PM · 6-week session
You will commit to one consistent evening each week for the full 6-week session. Consistency matters — it builds trust with the students, the horses, and the rest of the team. *Session leader may adjust to 5:15 or 5:30 depending on day.
What You Will Do
Volunteers work alongside session leaders to support both students and horses. The work is hands-on and relational.
⁃ Horse Handling: Leading, grooming, tacking up, and groundwork with the horses.
⁃ Rider Support: Walking alongside riders for safety, or supporting ground-level interactions.
⁃ Encouragement: Providing a positive, faith-based presence that helps riders build confidence and character.
⁃ Ranch Tasks: Occasional light tasks as needed — though program support is always the priority.
What to Wear
Dress for a working ranch environment. Recommended attire includes:
⁃ Closed-toe shoes (boots are ideal for safety around horses)
⁃ Jeans or sturdy long pants
⁃ Weather-appropriate clothing such as layers or sun protectio
⁃ ⚠️ For safety around horses, please avoid loose clothing, dangling jewelry, or anything that could snag.
